“Film photography has taught me that life’s best moments are never rushed.”

I’ve loved taking photos ever since the moment I got my very first camera in the 7th grade. I was obsessed with not just taking pictures, but also printing them out and displaying them all over the place – books, closet walls, poster boards – you name it. I loved pretty much anything and everything that had to do with documenting the special people and moments in my life.

In 2014, I took my high school pastime a step further and started collecting vintage cameras. Over the span of a few months, I grew quite the collection, but that’s where it stopped. Outside of snapping a few photos with the expired rolls I had acquired, the cameras sat on a shelf simply to be admired.

The next eight years rolled along and finally, I picked up the first film camera I had ever purchased (my trusty Pentax K1000). I started teaching myself how to use it and, after a lot of trial and error (and at least one blank film roll that I’m still grieving), I started to get the hang of things. One roll quickly turned into another and soon I was hooked.

Now, I pretty much carry a camera with me anytime I travel or go on a new adventure. While the models of cameras I’ve photographed with have changed over the years, my love for documenting life’s moments has never waned.

Film photography has taught me that life’s best moments are never rushed. It’s taught me how to slow down and enjoy the present moment and even how to appreciate the flaws – because everything is beautiful in its own way.

Most of the photos I take are simply for my own enjoyment, however, I hope that by sharing them with you, you can enjoy a little peek into my lens and find your own inspiration from this big beautiful world around us.
